Golden Hour Oregon Coast Elopement at Cape Kiwanda

Oregon Coast weddings. I could shoot them over and over and over and never tire of them. Some of my earliest childhood memories were romping around Oregon, never wearing shoes, searching for sea creatures in the pools created at low tide at the coast. I always love going back. Even the drive out feels incredibly nostalgic.

Taylor and Gabriel planned an intimate elopement at Cape Kiwanda, one of my favorite Oregon Coast locations. Their family and friends loaded out wood benches, a speaker, and some greenery to a spot they had chosen surrounded by warm limestone cliffs. It was totally a pop-up wedding. No reserved area. No venue. Just their community. And dogs of course. And pizza.

Headlands is a perfect place for intimate weddings on the coast. The completely re-modeled hotel is modern meets cozy. The interior is like Ace Hotel meets your grandmothers house. Warm and inviting with just a touch of flare.

“Gabe and I met 9 years ago at a fundraiser for Cascade AIDS project. I liked him immediately. He was funny, kind and just all around wonderful. When friends suggested we date we (as we jokingly refer to it now) “played it cool”. This “coolness” resulted in neither of us actually realizing the other person was interested. Eventually, we fell out of touch.

A little over 2 years ago we ran into each other at a birthday party for a mutual friend. Turns out we both went hoping the other would be there. Our first date one week later lasted seven hours! I didn’t know I could talk so much. We’ve been together ever since.

With Gabe, I’ve seen more of the world and myself than in all the years that came before him combined. Turns out he’s cooler and kinder than I even imagined.

We wanted to have a warm ceremony with our immediate family in one of our favorite places. The Oregon Coast has a special place in our hearts and our relationship. We wanted to keep things simple and small and sweet.“
