Coco Hacienda Wedding in Tulum, Mexico | Emma + Brendan

Tropical Coco Hacienda Wedding in Tulum, Mexico

This is one of the most emotional weddings I have ever experienced. Emma + Brendan planned a tropical getaway for all their family and friends for an entire week in Tulum Mexico. The whole crew spent the week together enjoying everything that this amazing location has to offer. The wedding took place at Coco Hacienda, a boutique hotel and new wedding venue in the heart of Tulum. This location offers a secluded tropical space with bright colored adobes and palapa at its center.

I wanted to give a special shout out to Barbara of Luna Life Weddings who went above and beyond not only with the design of the gorgeous details, but also the amazing level of service throughout the wedding day. Also to the videography team from Tent Films who were the absolute sweetest people and such a joy to work with. An absolute power team that I so hope to work with again!

Words from Emma…

What did you love about your wedding location/venue?

There’s a real magic to the Pueblo of Tulum and the surrounding jungle. We happened to stay at our wedding venue, Coco Hacienda, during a visit in 2018 and were enamored with this oasis tucked away in town. It’s the opposite of an all-inclusive resort, which is really more our speed and allowed us to make every aspect of the wedding tailored to us. We can’t say enough good things about the venue: its incredible staff worked with our planners, Barb and Manuel of Luna Life Weddings, to make our vision come to life seamlessly despite being only their second wedding. We think the pictures of the venue speak for themselves!

What memory from your wedding do you remember the most strongly? Or what part of the day had the most effect on you or your relationship?

There wasn't a dry eye in the place, including ours, during our vows. We have been friends since we were 15, so expressing our love in front of our closest friends and families was incredibly moving. Although the forecast said rain all day, it held off save a 10 minute downpour during our vows, during which everyone was covered by a palapa. It was stunning.

Funniest moment on your wedding day?

We couldn’t possibly limit it to one! Some that come to mind: our parents taking tequila shots after the ceremony; the best man speech that had us all roaring; jumping in the pool with all of our friends before bedtime; and returning to our room in the early morning to find our friends had decorated it in a ridiculous , "romantic" way. If we weren't crying, we were laughing!

What advice would you give to future couples who are getting married?

First, find an amazing photographer that understands your personalities-seriously! Our photos bring us joy daily in a style that is so uniquely "us".  Second, you're not "supposed" to do anything unless it feels true to who you are as a couple. Finally, don’t ask for opinions unless you really want them; it can cause unnecessary angst when, in the end, all that matters is you're marrying your best friend.
