How to Plan Your Mt Hood Elopement

Guide to Planning Your Mt Hood Elopement

Mt Hood is one of the most popular locations for eloping in Oregon, and for good reason. The variety of locations paired with having easily accessible restaurants and tons of outdoor activities nearby make it an amazing area for planning an elopement.

As a photographer with years of experience shooting elopements, one of the things I recommend is making a vacation out of it and planning fun things to do over multiple days! There are so many activities, breweries, and unique places to stay around Mt Hood.

Best Places to Elope Near Mt Hood

Timberline Lodge: Located right at the base of Mt Hood, there are few locations that have a closer view of Mt Hood. Silcox Hut: This historic hut is only accessible by Snocat, making the location very private. Bringing a few guests along for your elopement? The hut can provide lodging for up to 24 guests. Hike in Locations: I research locations based on each couple’s preference and send them a list of options that will be a great fit.

Unique Places to Stay Near Mt Hood

Try AirBnB for cute cabins and stunning A-Frames. Some of my favorites are this glamping treehouse, the Fivemile Lookout Tower, this cozy historic cabin, and a modern Scandanvian cabin. How about an A-Frame? Both the Klaus Haus and this super stylish cozy retreat are both great picks.

Timberline Lodge is one of the most famous buildings in Oregon. This historic lodge is stunning - with a restaurant, bar, and gorgeous floor to ceiling fireplaces. The nearby hiking trails and pool are best in summer, while snowboarding and skiing make it a destination in winter.

Things To Do Near Mt Hood

  • Drive the Mt Hood Scenic Byway. This takes you from Troutdale, around Mt Hood, and ends in Hood River. Hood River is a destination location with some of the best breweries in the state (pFriem Brewery and Double Mountain being my personal favorites). In the summer kite surfing becomes the main attraction.

  • Plan a day of white water rafting. This is one of the most popular summer activities around Mt Hood.

  • Choose from dozens of gorgeous hikes. A Mt Hood visit isn’t complete without at least one gorgeous day hike!
