Best Portland Parks for Weddings with Stunning Backdrops
Best Portland Parks for Weddings
Thinking about getting married at a Portland park? I've created a list of the top parks located in Portland, Oregon for weddings. As a wedding photographer I am definitely picky about locations and these, in my opinion, are the most bang for your buck.
Cathedral Park
Site: Stairs and Deck
Capacity: 100 guests
Fee: $450
What makes this spot great: The backdrop of the St John’s Bridge is truly breathtaking. They definitely call it Cathedral Park for a reason as the under part of the bridge creates the look of the inside of an old cathedral. This paired with the view of the river and forests is really something special. It is especially sure to wow your out of town guests who are seeing Portland for the first time.
Hoyt Arboretum
Site: The Redwood Deck
Capacity: 50 standing or 25 seated
Fee: $205
What makes this spot great: If you are really drawn to a forest backdrop for your wedding, then this location is perfect. The deck creates a panoramic view of the surrounding redwoods and sequoias.
Site: Stevens Pavilion
Capacity: 100 guests
Fee: $550
What makes this spot great: This pavilion resembles a giant A-frame cabin. That paired with the surrounding forests creates a bit of a camp feel.
Site: Wedding Meadow
Capacity: 100 guests
Fee: $260
What makes this spot great: A bit more open air then the previous two locations, this meadow creates a space in the surrounding forest. Beautifully simple and rather affordable for the amount of guests it holds.
Mt. Tabor Park
Site: Summit
Capacity: 100 guests
Fee: $360
What makes this spot great: Well, for starters this ceremony site is on an extinct volcano. This is an open area among the park’s douglas firs. There are peek views of Mt Hood and downtown Portland.
Site: Amphitheater
Capacity: 500 guests, benches for 80
Fee: $575
What makes this spot great: It is rare to find a Portland parks wedding site that can accommodate this many guests. Surrounded by trees and foliage, this site still has the benefits of the beauty of Mt. Tabor for large weddings.
Washington Park
Site: Shakespeare Garden
Capacity: 75 guests, 12 chairs
Fee: $680
What makes this spot great: This location is nestled within the Portland Rose Garden and truly creates an English garden feel. The larger location attracts many tourists but this specific area is a bit secluded. If you are inspired by florals then this location is absolute perfection.
