Union/Pine Wedding in Portland, OR | Chelsie + Todd
Chelsie + Todd planned a swanky yet relaxed New Years Eve wedding at Union/Pine, surrounded by Great Gatsbyesque 1920's decor and dress. (also sidenote, I just found out "Gatsbyesque" is an actual word in the Merriam-Webster dictionary).
Union/Pine is definitely one of my favorite wedding venues in Portland. Its close to downtown yet far enough away where you don't get stuck in the gridlock. The surrounding neighborhoods, industrial district, and nearby bridge views make it a photographer's dream. And don't even get me started on the interior design of this place, its beautiful. Feels more like a cool Portland restaurant than a traditional venue.
From a photography aspect one challenge was that the ceremony was completely at night! Usually Union/Pine gets pretty window light during the day but that just wasn't a fit for a New Years Eve wedding. The couple envisioned a relaxed nighttime ceremony surrounded by candlelight. I shoot at U/P often so Im very familiar on how to utilize the light in the different areas. Low light can be challenging but I feel these challenges only make me a better photographer who can handle all the sorts of lighting situations wedding can throw at me.
C+T, man their love is palpable. You can not only tell they are nuts for each other, but they also are truly best friends. It was an honor to be apart of this one. <3
