| 2014 Year in Review by Catalina Jean | Portland + Destination Wedding Photographer |
BIZ /// 2014 was filled with so many beautiful memories and wonderful wedding days. I have to pinch myself because it still doesn't feel real that photography has become the thing I do full-time. In 2014 I got to travel all over the country shooting weddings throughout Oregon, Washington, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Tennessee, and California. I also had several publications including Green Wedding Shoes, Style Me Pretty, Rock n Roll Bride, and even had my first print magazine feature! I think the three biggest things that I am proud of this year are 1) developing a consistent shooting and editing style 2) taking the leap into the more moody, storytelling niche 3) getting to know so many amazing creative people across the country. They have become not only my co-workers but my friends. I am particularly excited for the upcoming photography retreats and conferences where I will get to adventure around the country (and out of the country!) with some of these wonderful people.
PERSONAL /// Welcomed our new pup Henry the red Boston Terrier to our family! Kingsley + Henry are snuggled up together on the couch as I type this. Love those little guys to pieces. Started big time saving for a house this year and researching just where Daniel and I want to buy in Portland. I have moved a lot in my life so there is something particularly special about finally calling someplace "home".
GOALS /// 2015 is almost booked solid for many beautiful wedding days so my booking goal has definitely been met, which is so exciting and completely humbling. My four big goals: 1) book some weddings in other countries 2) continue to dive deeper into the art of photography through learning and practice 3) live a more balanced and whole life 4) start backpacking! The NW is just too beautiful to not adventure out into it.
THANK YOU /// I cannot express how thankful I am for each and every person that trusted me to document the most special times in their lives. I felt so welcome on wedding days. I chatted with your families. Your bridal party laughed at my dumb jokes. And sometimes I got groovy with you on the dance floor. :) Thank you for the fun times and wonderful memories. The images would not have been possible without you.
Below are some of my favorite images from the year. Includes a mix of personal work, portraits, and wedding day moments that make my heart skip a beat...
