| Mary + Mike by Catalina Jean | Columbia Gorge Bridals | Portland Wedding Photography |
"We met senior year in highschool at an after game dance. I loved going to school dances. Although when a slow song started, I normally found myself waiting wide eyed and awkwardly for a dance request that didn’t come. Still I was determined to no longer be a wallflower, and stayed glued to the dance floor with my friends. I guess my new found confidence had gained attention, because when the dreaded slow song started, a very tall (6’ 5”) handsome boy walked straight to me and asked me to dance. Honestly I had never felt so comfortable dancing with someone before. As corny as it may sound, it was like home. I looked way up and gave him the biggest smile. (Like a so big my eyes got squinty kind of smile). Mike said that is when he fell in love with me. Most girls he danced with would just rest their heads against him because of his height, and not even look up. I think when we danced that night, my heart recognized that he would be the one to hold it, and keep it safe. When I looked up and saw him gazing down at me, I smiled for all the overwhelmingly wonderful things I was feeling in that moment, and it was the most natural thing in the world. That was it for us."
My husband and I both shot this bridal session together and it really felt more like a really fun adventure outing than a session. Mary + Mike are probably two of the sweetest people you will ever meet. We definitely almost got a trespassing ticket going out on that cliff but I think it was kinda worth it. :)
