"I went on a last-minute trip to Sacramento to go visit her grandfather. I came home on a Saturday evening, feeling worn down and was happy to see Stefan and our dog, Doug, pick her up from the airport. Of course, it being a Saturday, I was surprised to see Stefan shaved and in one of his nicer sweaters just to pick me up from the airport.
When we arrived home and as Stefan unloaded my luggage, I entered the kitchen to find a long-stemmed rose sitting on the counter with a note. The note was a rhyme sending me on a rose-by-rose scavenger hunt throughout the house to find more roses. I had a little bit of trouble finding a couple of the roses, but it led to laughs and hints from Stefan as he peeked in on my progress throughout the house. The 11th rose told me to find my boyfriend for the last rose. I went upstairs to our bedroom and found Stefan holding a huge bouquet of roses and embraced me with a hug and kisses. He went on and on about how much he missed me while I was gone, how much he loved me, and that he did the rose hunt to cheer me up and make me happy. Then he grabbed a little wooden box off the dresser, turned to me and got down on one knee. As he did so, he said, “Please don’t cry.” I then started to tear up, covered my mouth with my hand in surprise and said, “I’m not dressed for this.” We both giggled and Stefan proceeded to tell me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and would I marry him. I nodded, said yes (at least, I'm pretty sure I did), and drew Stefan up to me where I proceeded to hug and kiss him. I then pulled back and said, 'You did hear me actually say yes, right?'"
